Visit to Rumah Hope - Childrens' Home!

On 19th February 2015, we, Newton Squad visited Rumah Hope located at - no. 45, Jalan 20/2, Paramount Garden, Selangor, 46300, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Our main objectives:
-  Teaching the kids about reuse and recycling by demonstrating and promoting by using plastic bottles and such.

-  Encouraging these kids to follow eco friendly ways in order to save the environment.

 - To develop an environment that improves youngsters retention and achievement

Arriving at Rumah Hope!

After a journey of around 30 minutes Newton Squad arrived at Rumah Hope around 3 pm. The seniors of Rumah Hope greeted us with welcoming arms!  Firstly, we stationed our materials in order to  be prepared for when the kids come. The kids came down to the study room in about 15 minutes, and it must be highlighted that these kids are very well disciplined, which surely is all because of the love and care given to them by the seniors of Rumah Hope!

After all the kids were settled, we introduced ourselves and some of the Newton Squad members gave an introduction and a brief explanation of our events for the day, as well as of our main theme- Reduce, Reuse & Recycling!

Familiarizing the kids on the events and explain why we must Reuse, Reduce and Recycle!

Activity Time!

As an example of how plastic bottles can be recycled and reused, we demonstrated and helped the kids in making a Piggy Bank and Pen Holders with empty plastic bottles.

Here are some of the pictures of Newton Squad helping the kids during activity time!

Tea Time!

We proceeded with Tea Time after carrying out the activities with some snacks and drinks that we took for the kids!

Prize winners!

For the last event, we distributed prizes for the best 10 Piggy Banks made as well as, useful stationary as gifts for all the kids there!

Last but not the least!

We would like to thank our beloved teacher, Ms. Neeshanti for giving us this opportunity!  It truly helped us become better people, widen our perspective and to appreciate the things we have a lot more. Also, for Rumah Hope for welcoming us even though it was a last minunte call! This trip definitely  left all of us wanting to go back to Rumah Hope and visit several other orphanages and to help the community in any way that we possibly can!
